2. (a) what are the degree and types of correlation? How is Karl Pearson’s coefficient of correlation calculated?

(b)  What are index numbers? How are they constructed and what are the main difficulties in their construction?         16

3. (a) Explain the approach to probability. Under what condition is the classical approach not appropriate to employ?      16

(b) The number of defects per unit in a sample of 330 units of manufactured product was found as follows ;

5. (a) what are the basic requirements of a good research report?

(b) In a certain sample of 2000 families, 1400 families are consumers of tea. Out of 1800 hindu families, 1236 families consume tea. Use chi square distribution to test whether there is any significant difference between consumption of tea among Hindu and Non- Hindu families.              16
